Narrated Ibn ‘Umar: The Prophet said, “Amongst the trees, there is a tree, the leaves of which do not fall and is like a Muslim. Tell me the name of that tree.” Everybody started thinking about the trees of the desert areas. And I thought of the date-palm tree. The others then asked, “Please inform us what is that tree, O Allah’s Apostle?” He replied, “It is the date-palm tree.” [Sahih Bukhari, Volume 1, Book 3, Number 59]

How beautiful and simple strightforward words, crux of which is that Muslims cannot fall and are similar to the leaves of the date-palm tree which do not fall too.

When we see around us about what’s happening in Pakistan these days, we get to observe that it’s because we are not following the true path of Islam and have introduced our own ways to do things. That is the reason we don’t like each other and are not like a true date-palm tree, which is a symbol of unity between Muslims.

Quality of Work

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin ‘Amr:

Once the Prophet remained behind us in a journey. He joined us while we were performing ablution for the prayer which was over-due. We were just passing wet hands over our feet (and not washing them properly) so the Prophet addressed us in a loud voice and said twice or thrice: “Save your heels from the fire.”

[Volume 1, Book 3, Number 57: Sahih Bukhai

How wonderful this Hadith is, which makes us focus on the quality of work instead of doing it haphazardly. May Allah helps us all in looking for the quality in our prayers and everyday life.
